Empowerment through Skills and Livelihoods
We recognize that sustainable development must include opportunities for local empowerment. While our work is currently in its foundational phase, MCDO has begun piloting basic life skills and vocational exposure at Blessed Sacrament Kayayumbe Vocational and Secondary School, where students engage in practical agricultural training and hands-on learning opportunities integrated into the curriculum.
Our long-term vision is to establish well-equipped community empowerment centers offering:
•Women’s empowerment: introductory programs in tailoring, fashion and design, and access to cooperative-based microloans
•Youth livelihoods: vocational skills in carpentry, agriculture, and technical training
•Sustainable farming practices and support for smallholder cooperatives
To realize this vision, MCDO is actively seeking partnerships and funding to develop permanent infrastructure, equip training spaces, and expand community mentorship programs.
